Does a butcher block counter top need to have a solid structure beneath it or is it able to be positioned over a cabinet on one end and be supported with metal legs at the end to create an island bar? I’m wanting to create a 6’L island. I have 30" cabinets at one end of this “island” and want to cantilever the balance of island without support under it with the exception of the metal legs I would position at the other end of the 6’ expanse. I like the butcher block look but am not sure it would be suitable in this type of application.
