About accent walls

Accent walls are popular and gorgeous decoration features for homes and commercial projects. An accent wall is a wall that has a different design from the other walls in the same space. These detailed feature walls with wood are suited for indoor and outdoor projects, and there are many different ways of creating wood wall panels.

You can create accent walls simply by changing the color of the wall to make it different from the other walls, or you can create a different feel by changing the texture or material of the wall.

Barn wood accent wall

Reclaimed wood walls are an excellent option for accent walls. Barn wood walls can add a beautiful touch to your scheme. When added to a living space like a living room, wooden walls can become the main focus of the room by itself! Feature walls with wood will differ in color from the other walls and add a different texture, which will make the wall pop even more and add some contrast to the scheme.

Important considerations

Before adding this beautiful wood accent wall to your cart, make sure you have the correct measurements for your project. Our panels are sold in kits of 15 square feet, and the minimum order is 30 square feet. The reclaimed wood panels come in widths of three, five, or seven inches, and the length is random lengths. The thickness of the wood varies based on the wood option.

*Please note that the wood grain varies, and not the door planks have slightly tone variations.

Square footage formula:width x hight = square footage. To find out how many 15 square feet kits you need, you just need to divide the total square footage by 15.

For example, if your wall is 6 feet tall and 10 feet wide, your square footage is 60

(6 x 10 = 60 sq ft²).In this case, you will need four kits.

There are manyreasons to choose reclaimed wood as the material for your accent wall, and here are five of them:

  2. It is durable
  3. Versatility
  4. Easy to install
  5. It has a story

Reclaimed wood accent walls are great for the environment

When extracted properly and consciously, wood is one of the most renewable natural resources in the world. Producing wood products uses less water, energy, and produces less carbon than other raw materials.

When opting for reclaimed wood, you directly impact and minimize the demand for newly sourced timber. Reusing building materials like wood accent wall panels prevents those materials from being discarded and going to landfill waste.

Wood accent walls are durable

Different from a lot of people think reclaimed wood accent walls are extremely resistant and durable! Usually, reclaimed wood has already been exposed to different and sometimes extreme weather conditions for years, and sometimes decades. Being exposed to those conditions makes reclaimed wood walls more resistant, durable, and weather-resistant than new, virgin wood.

Before using reclaimed wood on your design project, it is crucial to make sure the wood is safe for use. At RealCraft, our reclaimed wood is treated to ensure they resistant and safe for use. We make sure the wood is clean and free from any kind of natural hazards such as mold, as well as ensuring the wood is not cracking and does not have any residue materials from previous uses such as nails and splinters.

Wood accent walls are versatile

Wood accent walls are an impressive architectural feature by itself. This type of accent wall can add character and authenticity to the space, and no matter how you use it, the wood can always match your style. Whether you are creating a delicate farmhouse kitchen or rustic bedroom, wood accent walls its a significant element to complement your scheme.

Because this wood is weathered and aged, even without any customization, a reclaimed wall has a unique look and pattern that no other new wood specie lumber can match. Barn wood accent walls are also highly customizable, and you can change its feel by adding a wood finish or a pop of color!

Before installing your accent wall, it is important to make sure you have correct measurements and that you are considering elements on the wall that you do not want to cover, such as light switches, and heating and cooling systems. It is also essential to start the installation using a level ruler and drawing a reference line as floors and ceiling tend to be uneven.

You may attach the accent wall wood boards to the wall using construction adhesive or glue, nails, or both. When connecting the boards, a good practice is to frequently check the rows to make sure the pattern looks the way you want.

Reclaimed wood has a story

Reclaimed lumber always has a story, and the wood look really tells it.

Among other sources, reclaimed wood accent walls can have wood from old barns, shipyards, and other buildings. This wood type often has unique etching and marks that hint stories from the past.
