Osmo Wood Finish Exterior One Coat Only HS Plus

High Coverage That Saves Time and Money

Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus is a semi-transparent, satin exterior and interior wood finish that colors, protects with just one coat. The finish enhances the natural wood grain and texture while leaving a breathable microporous surface. This finish does not crack, peel, flake, or blister. It's durable, water-repellent, moisture-regulating, and protects against weather and UV damage. Save time and money with this one-coat wood finish.

  • Approx. Coverage: 26m²/L (280ft²/L) with one coat
  • Number of Coats: 1 coat
  • Application Temperature: +5°C to 35°C
  • Approx. Dry Time: 12 hours
  • Available Sizes: 5mL, 0.750L, 2.5L

Please note: 'Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus' cannot be shipped to the following California counties in any size due to restrictions: Los Angles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside. The 2.5L size cannot be shipped to the following States: CA, MN, WI, IL, MI, OH, PA, NY, VT, NH, ME, UT, AZ.

The Exterior Finish That's One Coat Only

This transparent, satin wood finish is based on natural oils for wood in outdoor areas. Unlike urethane finishes, which seal the wood off completely, it allows the wood to “breathe” and reduces swelling and shrinkage. It's water-repellent, extremely weatherproof and UV stable. Will not crack, peel, flake or blister. Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus works because it has high solid content, offering high coverage in just one coat. Maintenance is also a breeze, because you don't have to sand the finish to apply touch-ups. The dry finish is safe for humans, animals and plants. It is biocide free.

This versatile product is suitable for use for many exterior wood surfaces, including timber cladding, carports, fences, pergolas, gazebos, patio furniture, and more. For decking, we recommend the Osmo Decking Oil.

Note: Transparent colors are influenced by the natural color of the wood. Light transparent color tones offer limited UV protection and we do not recommend them for surfaces exposed to strong sunlight.

Preparation

Ensure that the wood surface to be treated is clean, dry (maximum moisture content 20%) and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.

  1. Old paints and varnishes must be fully removed with a suitable paint and varnish remover prior to application of Osmo One Coat Only
  2. Old microporous stains need only be cleaned or lightly sanded
  3. Remove any mold or algae growth
  4. For wood that has turned silver / grey due to weathering, pre-treat with Osmo Wood Reviver Gel
  5. Fill any holes or imperfections in the wood

Application

Always do a test area before starting any project to check suitability and compatibility. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the tin at all times.

Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus should be brush or roller applied only. It is not suitable for spray application. Stir well before and during use for a consistent finish.

  1. Apply Osmo One Coat with an Osmo Brush or Osmo Microfiber Roller
  2. If using a brush, only dip the brush a little into the tin and apply very thinly along the wood grain
  3. Apply the product thoroughly and evenly, and allow to dry for 12 hours with good ventilation
  4. Remove any excess product immediately with a clean lint-free cloth

For additional protection, apply a coat of Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra over One Coat HS Plus when fully dry. This will give the surface a slightly satin appearance and improved durability of the finish. If possible apply to all sides of the wood.

CAUTION: cloths, steel wool, or other materials saturated with this product are combustible and may spontaneously catch on fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed water filled metal container.  See product information page attachment in “Technical tab” for more information.

Aftercare

Regular Cleaning

Light marks and dirt can be removed by cleaning the affected surface with a mixture of water and Osmo Wash And Care.

FAQ

Small scratches or marks on your floor can be repaired using the Osmo Repair Set, which includes a heating gun and wax sticks. Simply heat the wax stick, apply it to the scratch, and smooth it with a spatula. Choose a wax stick color that matches your wood for the best results.

For worktops treated with Osmo TopOil, clean regularly with soapy water and a cloth. Do not use abrasive powders or scouring pads. For deeper cleaning and maintenance, occasionally use Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner or Osmo Maintenance Oil to keep surfaces looking their best.

To restore weathered and greyed exterior wood, use Osmo Wood Reviver Power Gel to remove the greyed fibers and bring back the wood's natural color. Afterward, apply a suitable treatment from Osmo's exterior product range for lasting protection.

Seal the end grain by applying a small amount of Osmo End Grain Wax Sealer with a cloth. Allow it to dry thoroughly to ensure a durable seal against moisture.

  • Interior wood: Re-application is typically needed every 3-5 years, depending on the level of use and maintenance.

  • Exterior wood: Re-application varies from 3-10 years, influenced by exposure to sunlight and weather. Coastal or south-facing woods may require yearly maintenance.

Maintain your decking and garden furniture by cleaning occasionally with Osmo Decking Cleaner. If the wood has greyed, use Osmo Wood Reviver Power Gel to restore its natural color, followed by re-applying a suitable treatment for protection.

Osmo Woodfiller is ideal for filling gaps, splits, and cracks in interior wood. If staining the wood, choose Osmo Woodfiller (73001 Natural) as it can be stained to match the floor. For unstained wood, select a filler color that best matches the wood tone.
