Our most popular entry door is now available as an innovative Dutch door. Featuring an exclusive modern design and nine choices for glass styles on the upper door leaf, you can customize it to make it your own. You can also choose from twenty wood species and four glass types. Create your perfect Dutch door with the Peninsula.
Inspired by our best selling Peninsula Front Door, but with a glass panel on the top half, this door is an ultra-modern take onf the Dutch door. The upper door leaf can be customized with nine possible glass options. Meanwhile the single vertical leg with wide horizontal planks is a RealCraft exclusive. The minimalist design allows the beauty of real materials to shine through.
We offer twenty wood species in a range of colors and grain characteristics. From luxurious Black Walnut to vibrant Padauk to rustic Western Red Cedar, you can customize your door to perfectly fit your space. Further add to the uniqueness of your door by adding a pigmented stain to highlight or deepen the color of the wood. And you can opt for Clear glass or Etched, which has a frosted finish to offer more privacy. Sidelights and transom windows are available in a modern frameless style or a traditional framed style.
Our doors are hand-made by expert artisans who take deep pride in their work. Your RealCraft Dutch door is truly unique and as premium as they come.
Dutch doors are ideal for homeowners with small children and/or pets, because they keep kids and pets safely inside if you decide to open the top door leaf and let in some fresh air. Add a Dutch shelf to make them even more multipurpose.
Features:
Solid wood construction
Twenty wood species to choose from

Nine glass design options
Kerfed weatherstripping
Skilled artisans make all our doors by hand onsite in Gig Harbor, a small seaport town on the Puget Sound in Washington State.
Dutch Shelf
Our Dutch shelf comes with corbels for support and a classic silhouette. The Dutch shelf is tapered, as shown below, in order to allow for optimal door clearance. There are three Dutch shelf options: you can either opt for an interior shelf, an exterior shelf, or a double-sided shelf. Please note that shelf height will vary slightly depending on the hinge side and/or door handing. Hinge-side shelves will be slightly lower on the door slab than non-hinge side shelves. As shown in the image below, a double sided shelf will be slightly offset because of the nature of the Dutch cut in the door slab.
Wood Species
RealCraft offers twenty different wood species, ranging from traditional to exotic.
One of the reasons we love real wood so much is that it carries the character of its natural habitat. Wood species respond differently to humidity and temperature conditions. If you aren't sure which wood species to pick, call us at 1-800-694-5977.
Note that exterior Cedar doors come with a Douglas Fir jamb.
Glass Options
Glass Options
Our Dutch doors come with nine possible glass configurations on the upper door leaf. Choose a single pane for the most contemporary look, or opt for divided lights with mullions to make it more traditional, up to nine lights in all. We offer four glass types, including two Solarban variations. Solar Ban helps to regulate the temperature of your home by preventing heat transfer. Glass choices include:
Clear Insulated
Satin Insulated
Clear Solarban Low-E 60
Satin Solarban Low-E 60
We also offer custom glass options upon request.
Hinge Style & Placement
Our standard entry hinges are 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" ball-bearing hinges available in:
Standard Steel with multiple finish options
Solid Brass
Pure Stainless Steel
If your door will be an outswing door--especially in coastal areas--we recommend stainless steel or brass hinges to prevent corrosion.
Our Simonswerk Tectus concealed hinges come in pairs and are three-dimensionally adjustable: side +/- 3mm, height, +/- 3mm, compression +/- 1.5mm. They are available in multiple finishes and are a top-of-the-line, completely concealed hinge system with maintenance-free slide bearings. Choose this door hinge for a sleek, upscale finish.
Door Handing & Swing Direction
To determine door handing: Stand with your back to the jamb to be hinged. Then let your arm be the door and note whether the door swings to your right or your left. If it swings to your left, it is a left-handed door. If it swings to your right, it is a right-handed door.
To determine “inswing” or “outswing”: First, stand outside your house. Then, when your door opens does it open into the house? Then it is an inswing door. Does it open out from the house? Then it is an outswing door.
Note: Inswing doors are more typical for entry doors and our recommendation for Dutch doors.
Pre-Hung Door Jambs
There are three options for jamb material:
Hemlock, the industry standard
Douglas Fir, an upgraded option
Door Matched wood, for a premium look
Jamb measurements: Door width plus 2 3/8" (plus another 1/2" with concealed hinges)
Minimum rough opening: Door width plus 2 3/4" (plus another 1/2" with concealed hinges)
Please note that exterior casing/trim is not included.
Pre-Hung Door Threshold & Sweep
Pre-hung doors come with an exclusive white oak threshold. Our white oak threshold offers superior water protection and wear resistance. We use a pure silicone, adjustable Swiss weather sweep set into the bottom of the door. Kerfed weatherstripping is standard. If you need an ADA threshold, call us.
Dutch Bolt
All our Dutch doors come with a Dutch bolt to keep both leaves of the door together when needed. The Dutch bolt is not pre-installed on the door because it should only be placed after you hang the door, to allow for variances in site conditions.
Door Maintenance
Maintenance is key to protecting your investment. If you live in a place that has big temperature changes between seasons, you may need to tighten or lubricate your hinges from time to time. You should also adjust the door sweep to make sure it keeps the door sealed against the elements over time.
Our water-based top coat finish will need a refresh every 1-3 years depending on your door's exposure to elements. Large temperature & humidity changes, direct exposure to sunlight, and seaside environments all can affect how often a door needs refreshing. Expect to fully strip and refinish your door every 6-7 years.
If your door gets dirty (weather, pets, children, etc.) you can clean it with a gentle soap and water. If you have to clean the hinges for any reason, make sure they dry thoroughly.

Ordering a pre-hung door means the door jamb is included. Therefore measurements for pre-hung doors should take into account the overall Unit Measurements and the Minimum Rough Opening where it will be installed.
