Tim A., a resident of Tacoma, Washington, wanted to surprise his wife with something truly special.

He wanted a custom door for their historic home. It had to be a design that would give the house a facelift while remaining true its historic character.

Complicating matters, Tim's 1926 Tudor house has a door with a pointed arch. He knew he wanted to preserve this unique shape, but that meant he had to go custom. There was just no way to find a door shaped like this off-the-rack. It was also hard to find a design that was something fresh but proportional.

That's when Tim found RealCraft.

It was important to Tim to create a door with a more modern look within this traditional silhouette. Vertical flush planks gave him that vibe.

He chose black walnut wood, a wood species known for its rich brown and golden tones. For a traditional touch, he added a small leaded glass window.

At RealCraft, we know that no detail is too small. Since Timwas local to the Puget Sound area, we were able to measure his door opening to precisely match it. After design consultant Monica worked with Tim to refineand clarify his vision, our production team got to work.

A Traditional Home is Transformed

The final product blew Tim away. The new black walnut door completely revived the look of his home. And his wife loved it, too.

Tim says:

The carpenters I hired to perform the install were excited to get to install such a beautiful creation. And they were impressed by the precision of the pre-hung package that made for a seamless install. I have a great feeling of satisfaction every time I walk through my front door now.
