Osmo Wood Wax Finish Transparent

Please note: In California, Osmo Wood Wax Finish cannot be shipped to Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, or Riverside counties due to restrictions.

Osmo Wood Wax Finish is a colored finish that combines all the advantages of oils and waxes in one product. The waxes smooth the wood surface while the oils penetrate to protect from within. This product resists dirt and repels water, and won't crack, peel, or flake. The Transparent collection features neutral tones that enhance the natural beauty of any wood species.

A Transparent Color Natural Wood Finish

This wood finish adds a transparent color finish to interior wood. It's suitable for the following interior applications: wall paneling, molding, trim and beams as well as doors. You can also use it for edge-glued panels, chipboard and MDF. Ideal as a color base coat for wood floors and for re-finishing darkened wood surfaces. We also recommend it for furniture and children’s toys, as it is non-toxic and sweat and saliva-resistant once completely dry.

Unlike other wood finishes, no sanding is needed to touch up this finish, and it won't crack, peel or flake. Choose this finish for truly low maintenance and the natural look and feel of plant oils and waxes.

Osmo Advantages

  • Suitable for all interior use
  • Based on Sunflower oil, Soybean oil, Thistle oil, Carnauba, and Candelilla wax
  • Resistant to common liquid spills such as water, juice, tea, cola, and wine
  • Micro-porous, breathable finish which does not crack, peel, or flake
  • No sanding necessary for spot repairs or future applications
  • Made in Germany – Conforms to strict European norms

  • Wood surfaces to be treated with wax finish must be clean, dry and free from surface dirt and debris.
  • Surface coatings such as paint, varnish and other surface sealers must be fully removed by sanding or with a suitable paint and varnish remover
  • Sand carefully before application starting with a coarse paper – final sanding for flooring should be with a P80 to P120 grit sandpaper and P120 to P150 for furniture
  • Thoroughly remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner before application
  • Note: for use on flooring, one coat is recommended, followed by Osmo Polyx Oil to seal and protect the pigments.

Transparent (1-coat): Apply a thin coat with a lint-free cloth.

  1. Work product thinly and evenly onto wood using cloth, going along the wood grain.
  2. Allow 24 hours drying time. Allow for good ventilation while drying.
  3. For flooring, a top coat of Polyx®-Oil 3054 is required for added durability against wear and stains

Subtle Transparent: For an even more subtle color, follow step 1 above, but wipe off product with clean, lint-free cloth within 20 minutes of application. Allow 24 hours drying time.

WARNING: Cloths, steel wool, or waste saturated with this product are a spontaneous combustion hazard. Immediately after
use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed water-filled metal container.

Apply one coat with an Osmo Floor Brush or Osmo Natural Bristle Brush for smaller areas.

  1. Apply with the brush thinly along the wood grain on the clean and dry wood surface
  2. Allow 24 hours drying time. Allow for good ventilation while drying.
  3. Clean brush with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (benzene-free) or Turpentine

Apply two thin coats with an Osmo Microfibre Floor Roller.

  1. Stir the Wood Wax Finish well and pour into tray
  2. Take the Microfibre Roller and roll well on the grid of the tray
  3. Roll very thinly and evenly onto the wood following the grain
  4. Allow 24 hours of drying time. Allow for good ventilation while drying.
  5. For flooring, a top coat of Polyx®-Oil 3054 is required for added durability against wear and stains
  6. Clean roller with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (benzene-free) or Turpentine

Tip: The microfiber roller should only be saturated lightly. A lightly saturated roller will allow the user to cover approximately 43-53 ft2 (4-5m2) of flooring. Please be aware that Osmo Wood Wax Finish has a high yield (see product label). Product excesses and roller tracks must be roller or smoothed out immediately.

Apply one thin coat with an Osmo FloorxCenter or floor-buffing machine.

  1. Stir the Wood Wax Finish well prior to use.
  2. Trowel the product thinly onto the floor using an Osmo Double Sided Scraper or similar.
  3. Disperse and polish the floor using a floor buffer and white pads.
  4. There is too much material on the surface when you can see rings. Turn the pad over.
  5. Allow 24 hours drying time. Allow for good ventilation while drying
  6. In order to protect the pigments, 1-coat of clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil is necessary as a top coat

Tinting: Osmo Wood Wax Finish can also be used to lightly tint Polyx®-Oil 3054 up to a ratio of 10:1. Do not exceed a ratio of 10 parts Polyx®-Oil 3054 to 1 part Wood Wax Finish.

Regular Cleaning

Surfaces treated with Osmo Wood Wax Finish Transparent should be dry wiped from time to time with a soft lint free cloth. To remove day to day, dust, dirt, scuffs and light marks use Osmo Spray Cleaner.

Deep Cleaning

For more stubborn marks, light scratches or if the surface is starting to look tired or worn, an application of Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner may be required.
