Introducing the sleek and stylish Peninsula Modern Pivot Front Door from RealCraft! Handcrafted from solid wood, this door is both beautiful and functional. The pivot hinge opens and closes smoothly, perfect for residential and business applications. This door makes any building look striking and contemporary. Showcased in elegant Black Walnut, the Peninsula Modern Pivot Front Door adds a touch of warmth and timeless appeal to any contemporary entrance.
The Peninsula pivot door features a single vertical leg that spans the whole height of the door, with eight horizontal planks to complete the door slab. It’s an extremely modern design for those who want their front door to make a big statement. Its dramatic contrasts evoke the towering old growth trees and rollicking surf of the Olympic Peninsula, where RealCraft is based. The Peninsula is a wilderness of dense rainforests hemmed in by the Puget Sound and the Pacific Ocean. A place of rugged beauty that rewards courage and strength. The Peninsula Door is made for people who want a door as unique and as rugged as they are.
The Pivot version of this door allows you to build this door even bigger and taller, because the pivot hardware distributes the weight of a door differently than traditional hinges. We have two pivots to choose from: a freestyle turnstile pivot, or the M+ pivot. The M+ offers adjustable holding and damping, so you can push the door into an open position and it will stay open. This is ideal for carrying things inside without worrying about keeping the door open. The M+ also has adjustable closure speeds, which means it is ADA Friendly Access Compatible.
Like all our entry doors, the Peninsula is available in twenty wood species, including American classics like Premium Walnut (as shown), Hickory, or Cherry. Or choose from exotic wood types like Padauk, or Sapele Mahogany. We build this door by hand using traditional joinery techniques so it’s made to last. And it carries the knowledge and passion of the artisans who built it.
Our exterior pivot doors come with an exclusive white oak threshold and brush sweep, a combination that prevents water damage to the jamb. We also test-fit the pivot hardware in the threshold, ensuring the hardware is placed correctly, so installation is a breeze. We offer three options for door jambs, including the same species as the door for a cohesive look. Plus we are offering sidelights and transoms for pivot doors made with insulated glass, so you can add even more impact to your entryway. Choose from a modern frameless look or a framed, traditional style for optional sidelights and transom windows.
Note: door boring for this door may be a non-standard measurement because of the horizontal planks. This will be noted on the drawing you receive for approval.

Skilled artisans make all our doors by hand onsite in Gig Harbor, a small seaport town on the Puget Sound in Washington State.
Wood Species
RealCraft offers twenty different wood species, ranging from traditional to exotic.
One of the reasons we love real wood so much is that it carries the character of its natural habitat. Wood species respond differently to humidity and temperature conditions. If you aren't sure which wood species to pick, call us at 1-800-694-5977.
Note that exterior Cedar doors come with a Douglas Fir jamb.
Transom & Sidelights
RealCraft's Transom and Sidelights are made with the same wood as your door, for a cohesive and premium look.
What is a transom?
A transom window refers to a window above a door slab, typically (but not always) separated by a transverse horizontal structural beam.
What are sidelights?
Sidelights are narrow windows that flank a door slab. You can have one side light or two, one on each side of the door. You can also combine one or two sidelights with a transom. Sidelights make your entry door look more visually striking.
Benefits of transom and sidelights:
Our transoms and sidelights are built with the same wood species as your door, for a beautiful custom look
Lets in more natural light
Improves curb appeal
Increases home value
Completely transforms your entryway
Please note that RealCraft Sidelights and Transoms are non-operable, meaning they do not open or close. To add an operable side light or transom, please contact our custom sales department at253-853-3811.

Door Handing & Swing Direction
To determine door handing: Stand with your back to the side of the jamb where the pivot will be closest to. Then let your arm be the door and note whether the door swings to your right or your left. If it swings to your left, it is a left-handed door. If it swings to your right, it is a right-handed door.
To determine “inswing” or “outswing”: First, stand outside your house. Then, when your door opens does it open into the house? Then it is an inswing door. Does it open out from the house? Then it is an outswing door.
Note: Inswing doors are more typical for entry doors.
Pre-Hung Door Jambs
There are three options for jamb material:
Hemlock, the industry standard
Douglas Fir, an upgraded option
Door Matched wood, for a premium look
Jamb measurements: Door width plus 2 3/8" (plus another 1/2" with concealed hinges)
Minimum rough opening: Door width plus 2 3/4" (plus another 1/2" with concealed hinges)
Please note that exterior casing/trim is not included.
Pre-Hung Door Threshold & Sweep
Pre-hung doors come with an exclusive white oak threshold. Our white oak threshold offers superior water protection and wear resistance. We use a pure silicone, adjustable Swiss weather sweep set into the bottom of the door. Kerfed weatherstripping is standard. If you need an ADA threshold, call us.
Door Maintenance
Maintenance is key to protecting your investment. If you live in a place that has big temperature changes between seasons, you may need to tighten or lubricate your hinges from time to time. You should also adjust the door sweep to make sure it keeps the door sealed against the elements over time.
Our water-based top coat finish will need a refresh every 1-3 years depending on your door's exposure to elements. Large temperature & humidity changes, direct exposure to sunlight, and seaside environments all can affect how often a door needs refreshing. Expect to fully strip and refinish your door every 6-7 years.
If your door gets dirty (weather, pets, children, etc.) you can clean it with a gentle soap and water. If you have to clean the hinges for any reason, make sure they dry thoroughly.

Ordering a pre-hung door means the door jamb is included. Therefore measurements for pre-hung doors should take into account the overall Unit Measurements and the Minimum Rough Opening where it will be installed.
Calculating Unit Width Measurements for Pre-hung Doors
With no sidelights: Door Width + 2-3/8" for Unit Width + 3/8" per side minimum for Rough Opening Width
With one sidelight: Door Width + Sidelight Width + 4-1/2" for Unit Width + 3/8" per side minimum for Rough Opening Width
With two sidelights: Door Width + Sidelight Widths + 6-3/4" for Unit Width + 3/8" per side minimum for Rough Opening Width
Calculating Unit Height Measurements for Pre-hung Doors
With no transom: Door Height + 2-5/8" for Unit Height + 3/8" minimum for Rough Opening Height
With transom: Door Height + Transom Height + 4-5/8" for Unit Height + 3/8" minimum for Rough Opening Height
Please note that any door or door unit that measures more than 90 inches in both width and height will be shipped as a kit with jamb legs disassembled and side light glass separate. This is done to comply with crate size limits on freight trucks.
We highly recommend adding a clear or stain finish to your door to protect it and make sure that it is eligible to be covered by our warranty. A clear finish not only protects your door, it also enhances its beauty and brings out the color and detail of the grain. Stain finishes can intensify or adapt the color of the wood and provide additional protection against fading. Visit our wood species page to learn more.
We offer the following finish options:
White Primer: Added to Paint Grade Hardwood. For this option, we use only high-quality hardwoods like European Beech or Red Grandis. These species provide a smooth surface for paint.
Luxe Clear Satin Finish: An oil finish base, sealed with a satin-texture water-based top coat.
Luxe Oil Stain Finish: A pigmented oil finish base, sealed with a satin-texture water-based top coat.

FAQ
A pivot door is a unique and contemporary door design that operates on a rotating axis, unlike traditional hinged doors. Pivot doors use a pivot point on the top and bottom of the door, creating a smooth and seamless motion. These doors are known for their elegant appearance, spacious entryways, and architectural appeal.
A pivot door works by utilizing a pivot point at the top and bottom of the door, allowing it to swing open in a smooth, circular motion. The pivot point is usually offset from the center, providing a larger entrance and a unique visual appearance.
Yes, pivot doors can be as secure as traditional hinged doors. RealCraft pivot doors are built with solid wood and high-quality hardware, ensuring security and durability. The M+ pivot system, for example, features latch control, ensuring that latching bolts remain closed and doors cannot be easily forced open.
Maintaining a pivot door is simple. Regularly clean the door surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent, and check the pivot hardware for any signs of wear or damage. Periodically lubricate the pivot mechanism with a suitable lubricant to ensure smooth operation and prevent squeaking.
To adjust pivot door hinges, first identify the specific adjustment points on your pivot hardware system. Most systems, including the M+ pivot system, allow for adjustments to the damper control, speed control, and latch control.
Installing a RealCraft pivot door is a straightforward process, thanks to the pre-installed hardware on the door jamb and threshold. This ensures a smoother and more efficient installation. Start by preparing the doorway, ensuring it is level, square, and plumb. Then, follow the provided instructions to attach the pivot hardware to the door and door frame.
