End Grain Sealer Made From Plant Oils
Osmo End Grain Sealing Wax is designed for the end grains of decking, cladding or roof soffits made of hard and softwoods, such as Teak, Pine, Spruce, Douglas Fir, Larch, Cedar, and others. It minimalizes the moisture loss, water absorption, and cracking that can happen to exterior end grain surfaces. Easy to apply and low maintenance, the End Grain Sealing Wax is made from plant oils and waxes including sunflower oil and carnauba wax, making it a good natural alternative to traditional urethane based finishes.
The end grain should be clean, dry and free from surface contaminates that may form a barrier or seal.
- Apply to the raw end grain only. Do not use Osmo End Grain Sealing Wax on large areas.
- To achieve the best protection, we recommend to apply 2 coats successively, wet on wet.
- Recommended application amount of 150ml/m² for first coat, and 50 ml/m² for the second coat.
- 375ml covers approximately 250 decking boards on both ends.
Application
Always do a small test area before starting any project to assess if the product is compatible and to anticipate the end result. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the tin at all times.
- Apply End Grain Sealing Wax generously to end grains with an Osmo Flat Brush.
- For optimal protection, apply the sealing wax two times wet-in-wet or carry out a second coat right after drying.
- Wipe away any excess wax from other areas with a clean, lint-free cloth
Aftercare
For routine maintenance, simply re-apply Osmo End Grain Sealing Wax to exposed end grain when required.
