Our countertops are finished with Osmo High Solid Top Oil. This wood finish was designed for countertops and cutting boards, and is made of natural plant oils and waxes. Once dry, it is food safe and won't crack, peel, or flake. Osmo Top Oil conforms to strict EU safety standards, which makes it ideal for food-preparation surfaces.
Reapplying Top Oil regularly is key to keeping your countertops looking your best and to prevent water damage--but it's easy to do, since no sanding is required for reapplication. Simply brush on the wood finish per the package directions and allow to dry completely.
Wondering what wood species is best for countertops? Maple, Walnut, and Cherry are customer favorites. The best wood species for countertops are hardwoods with good strength properties and a closed-cell structure. You can read more about food safe woods here.
