A Dutch Door And A French Door In One

This door is the combination of two famous door innovations: a Dutch door, and a French door. The Dutch door adds practicality and functionality, thanks to its farmhouse origins. And the French door combined a door with a window—the French themselves call it a “window door.” The result of marrying these two designs together? Old World elegance with practical utility. Now you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other—you can have both.

In keeping with the traditional design, this door is also crafted from solid wood using traditional joinery. Because there’s just no substitute for the Real thing. A solid wood entry door will last longer and look beautiful for many years to come. This door is available in twenty different wood species, from Classic American hardwoods like Ash and Alder, to exotic, richly colored woods like Wenge or Sapele Mahogany. We use insulated glass in your choice of Clear or Crystal Etched (frosted) so you can either maximize natural light or opt for more privacy. And our French doors are always made with real leaded glass panes—no fakery or drawn-on lines here. Plus it comes with your choice of three optional shelf configurations. Choose from a modern frameless look or a framed, traditional style for optional sidelights and transom windows. With multiple customization options, we can build the Double French Dutch Door that’s perfect for your unique style.

Features:

  • Solid wood construction
  • Twenty wood species to choose from
  • Insulated glass panels in either clear or Crystal Etched (frosted) glass
  • Your choice of high or low Dutch cut
  • Optional shelf or double shelf
  • Nine hinge options
  • Kerfed weatherstripping

Skilled artisans make all our doors by hand onsite in Gig Harbor, a small seaport town on the Puget Sound in Washington State.

Dutch Shelf

Our Dutch shelf comes with corbels for support and a classic silhouette. The Dutch shelf is tapered, as shown below, in order to allow for optimal door clearance. There are three Dutch shelf options: you can either opt for an interior shelf, an exterior shelf, or a double-sided shelf. Please note that shelf height will vary slightly depending on the hinge side and/or door handing. Hinge-side shelves will be slightly lower on the door slab than non-hinge side shelves. As shown in the image below, a double sided shelf will be slightly offset because of the nature of the Dutch cut in the door slab.
