A Simply Classic Sliding Barn Door Kit

Our classic plank sliding barn door is among our simplest, most minimal designs. Rails at the top and bottom of the door complement the vertical planks and hold the door together. It’s a barn door that’s simple enough to look good anywhere. If you love the look and feel of real wood, this is the door for you.  It comes in two different assembly options:

DIY Barn Door Kit

When you select DIY Barn Door Kit, our craftsmen will construct your barn door planks with exact measurements, and we will ship the planks ready to be assembled. Each DIY Barn Door Kit comes pre-cut, sanded, slotted, and finished (if desired) for easy assembly and installation.

Pre-assembled Barn Door

When you select the Pre-assembled Barn Door option, we will build and assemble your barn door and ship it in a custom-made wood crate. This means that your barn door will be ready to be hung upon arrival.

Features

  • Real, solid wood planks
  • Ready-to-assemble DIY option OR pre-assembled
  • 1-3/4" thickness
  • Your choice of flat head screw finish
  • Twenty wood species and twelve finish options
  • Compatible with all sliding hardware

The Rancher Vertical Plank Sliding Barn Door design is a popular option for both residential and commercial spaces. We love it for the following décor styles:

  • Modern
  • Minimalist
  • Transitional
  • Farmhouse

At home, barn doors are commonly used for spaces like laundry rooms, bedrooms, offices, and storage closets.

Barn doors also work well for many businesses, including retails stores, wineries, design studios, bakeries, and more.

Complete your barn door system with sliding hardware, a floor guide, and some barn door handles.

Please note: All hardware is sold separately, please see ourbarn door hardware kits for sliding hardware options.

We highly recommend adding a clear finish to your door to protect it and make sure that it is eligible for coverage under our warranty. A clear finish not only protects your door, it also enhances its beauty and texture. Clear finish brings out the color and detail of the wood grain.

We offer the following finish options:

  • White Primer: Added to Paint Grade Hardwood. For this option, we use only high-quality hardwoods like European Beech or Red Grandis. These species provide a smooth surface for paint.
  • Clear Satin Eurofinish by Osmo: A premium hand-rubbed hardwax oil that conditions, seals, and finishes the wood.
  • Oil Stain EuroFinish by Osmo: A premium hand-rubbed hardwax oil that stains, seals, and finishes the wood.

Note: clear finishes are only available if we assemble the door for you. DIY door kits are unfinished. We recommend applying a clear finish to your DIY barn door planks within seven days of delivery.

Skilled artisans make all our doors by hand onsite in Gig Harbor, a small seaport town on the Puget Sound in Washington State.

RealCraft offers twenty different wood species from budget-friendly to exotic and rare. One of the reasons we love real wood so much is that it carries the character of its natural habitat. Wood species respond differently to humidity and temperature conditions. If you aren't sure which wood species to pick, call us at 1-253-853-3815.

For frequently asked questions about choosing a door and hardware see our FAQ page. If you're not sure what species is right for your space, or want to see the wood in person, you can order samples here.

Please note that doors will ship separately from sliding hardware when purchased together. Doors are pictured with hardware for context. Sliding hardware is sold separately, and not included with the purchase of a door. Doors are not pre-drilled for hardware. If you order a door and a hardware kit, we are unable to ship hardware installed on doors due to the risk of damage in transit.

We designed these doors with interior applications in mind. We don't recommend exterior use, and can't guarantee against warping or damage if you install your door outside. To have this door specially crafted for exterior use, call us at 1-253-853-3815 and we’ll be happy to help!

If you wish to customize the door even further, we can make your dream door a reality! Please understand that customization will add to the lead time. If you need more than 10 doors, or if your project requires special consideration, please call 1-253-853-3815

When choosing a sliding barn door size, we recommend that the door overlaps the doorway slightly to minimize gaps. An inch of overlap on each side is a good rule for barn doors. In this case, a 36” x 80” doorway would need a 38” x 81” sliding barn door.

We offer the most common sliding barn door sizes online, but we are able to make doors in any size you need. Please call our team at 1-800-694-5977 for custom door options.
