A Sliding Barn Door With Mid Century Modern Cool

Featuring a symmetrical four panel design and mortise and tenon joinery, this door is an understated classic. The Mid Century Modern Four Panel Sliding Door is made out of solid wood for a premium look and feel. This design in particular is great for displaying the natural beauty and uniqueness of real wood grain. Choose from three panel styles: flat panel, vertical tongue-in-groove panels, or horizontal tongue-in-groove panels. The tongue-in-groove panel styles will look more traditional, while the flat panel leans more modern. This is an extremely versatile door design, and would look beautiful with the following decor styles:

  • Mid Century Modern
  • Transitional
  • Traditional
  • Scandinavian
  • Minimalist

What are the advantages of a sliding barn door?

Barn doors save floor clearance--about ten square feet on average compared to swinging doors. This makes them optimal for areas of your home where you could use more space. They're commonly used for bathrooms, bedrooms, hallway closets, pantries, and playrooms. Plus, a barn door adds visual interest to any space, livening up rooms that need a focal point.

Pair your barn door with one of our sliding hardware kits for a cohesive final look. We love the Aero hardware kit for this door, or our Classic Flat Track

For frequently asked questions about choosing a door and hardware see our FAQ page. To see sample swatches and descriptions of wood species, take a look at the photo below, or our wood buying guide here. If you're having trouble deciding, or want to see the wood in person, you can order samples here.

Please note that doors will ship separately from sliding hardware when purchased together. Doors are pictured with hardware for context. Sliding hardware is sold separately, and not included with the purchase of a door. Doors will not be pre-drilled for hardware. If you order a door and a hardware kit, we are unable to ship hardware installed on doors due to the risk of shipping damage.

We designed these doors with interior applications in mind. We don't recommend exterior use, and can't guarantee against warping or damage if you install your door outside. To have this door specially crafted for exterior use, call us at 1-800-694-5977and we will be happy to help!

As stated above, we are happy to accommodate requests for customizations; however, please understand that customization will add to the lead time. If you need more than 10 doors, or if your project requires special consideration, please call 1-800-694-5977. We'd be happy to help!

When determining the size of your barn door, we recommend that the door overlaps the doorway to minimize gaps and provide some sound-muffling for privacy. An inch of overlap on each side is a good rule of thumb for barn doors. For example, a 36” x 80” doorway would need a 38” x 81” sliding barn door. If you would like more sound sealing, then a 2-inch overlap on either side is best. To make sure it looks as intentional as possible, your barn door should also completely cover any molding on the door opening when closed. So if you have molding, you’ll need to factor that into your measurements as well.

RealCraft offers twenty different wood species from budget-friendly to exotic and rare. One of the reasons we love real wood so much is that it carries the character of its natural habitat. Wood species respond differently to humidity and temperature conditions. If you aren't sure which wood species to pick, call us at 1-253-853-3815.

We recommend adding a clear finish to your door to protect it and ensure that it iseligible for coverage under our warranty.A clear finish not only protects your door, it also enhances the door’s beauty while preserving its natural, unique texture. Clear finish brings out the color and detail of the wood grain.

We offer the following finish options:

White Primer: Added to Paint Grade Hardwood. For this option, we use only high-quality hardwoods like European Beech or Red Grandis. These species provide a smooth surface for paint.

Clear Satin EuroFinish by Osmo: A premium hand-rubbed hardwax oil that conditions, seals, and finishes the wood.

Oil Stain EuroFinish by Osmo: A premium hand-rubbed hardwax oil that stains, seals, and finishes the wood.

Check out our Wood Species Visualizer below to compare the raw wood with finished wood and explore our wood species options. Slide the toggle to the left for unfinished wood, and slide the toggle to the right for wood finished with Clear Satin EuroFinish.
