A Modern Barn Door With Clean Lines & Timeless Style

The Rancher Modern Horizontal Plank Sliding Barn Door is elegant, minimal, and lets whatever wood you choose take center stage. The design consists of horizontal solid wood planks. On the back, a sleek frame holds the planks in place. When shopping for your Rancher Modern Horizontal Plank Sliding Barn Door, you have two assembly options: DYI Kit or Pre-assembled. This door design is 1-3/4" thick.

DIY Barn Door Kit

When you select DIY Barn Door Kit, our craftsmen will construct your barn door planks with exact measurements, and we will ship the planks ready to be assembled. Each DIY Barn Door Kit comes pre-cut, sanded, and slotted for easy assembly and installation. DIY kits are only available in the unfinished option.

Pre-assembled Barn Door

When you select the Pre-assembled Barn Door option, we will build and assemble your barn door and ship it in a custom-made wood crate. This means that your barn door will be ready to be hung upon arrival.

The RealCraft Rancher Modern Horizontal Plank Sliding Barn Door design is a popular option for both residential and commercial spaces. We love it for the following décor styles:

  • Modern
  • Minimalist
  • Transitional
  • Farmhouse

At home, barn doors are used for spaces like laundry rooms, bedrooms, offices, and storage closets.

Minimalist door designs have become the favorite door solution for many businesses, including retails stores, wineries, design studios, bakeries, and more.

Complete your barn door system with sliding hardware, a floor guide, and some barn door handles.

*Note: All hardware is sold separately. Please see our  barn door hardware kits for sliding hardware options.

Skilled artisans make all our doors by hand onsite in Gig Harbor, a small seaport town on the Puget Sound in Washington State.

RealCraft offers twenty different wood species from budget-friendly to exotic.

One of the reasons we love real wood so much is that it carries the character of its natural habitat. Wood species respond differently to humidity and temperature conditions. If you aren't sure which wood species to pick, call us at 1-253-853-3815.

For frequently asked questions about choosing a door and hardware see our FAQ page. If you're not sure what species is right for your space, or want to see the wood in person, you can order samples here.

Please note that doors will ship separately from sliding hardware when purchased together. Doors are pictured with hardware for context. Sliding hardware is sold separately, and not included with the purchase of a door. Doors are not pre-drilled for hardware. If you order a door and a hardware kit, we are unable to ship hardware installed on doors due to the risk of shipping damage.

We designed these doors with interior applications in mind. We don't recommend exterior use, and can't guarantee against warping or damage if you install your door outside. To have this door specially crafted for exterior use, call us at 1-253-853-3815 and we will be happy to help!

If you wish to customize the door beyond the options presented here, we can make your dream door a reality! Please understand that customization will add to the lead time. If you need more than 10 doors, or if your project requires special consideration, please call 1-253-853-3815

When calculating the size of your barn door, we recommend that the door overlaps the doorway slightly to minimize gaps and provide some sound-muffling for privacy. An inch of overlap on each side is a good rule for barn doors. For example, a 36” x 80” doorway would need a 38” x 81” sliding barn door. If you would like more sound sealing, then a 2 inch overlap on either side is best. To make sure it looks good, your barn door should also completely cover any molding on the door opening when closed. So if you have molding, you’ll need to factor that into your measurements as well.

We highly recommend adding a clear finish to your door to protect it and make sure that it is eligible to be covered by our warranty. A clear finish not only protects your door, it also enhances its beauty and brings out the color and detail of the grain.

We offer the following finish options:

  • White Primer: Added to Paint Grade Hardwood. For this option, we use only high-quality hardwoods like European Beech or Red Grandis. These species provide a smooth surface for paint.
  • Clear Satin Eurofinish by Osmo: A high-end hand-rubbed hardwax oil that conditions, seals, and finishes the wood.
  • Oil Stain EuroFinish by Osmo: A high-end hand-rubbed hardwax oil that stains, seals, and finishes the wood.We highly recommend adding a finish to your door to protect it and make sure that it is eligible to be covered by our warranty.

Note: DIY versions of this door are only available unfinished. We recommend applying a clear finish to your DIY planks within seven days of delivery.
