Products The Narrows Five Panel Sliding Barn Door

A Modern Glass Barn Door That Makes A Big Statement

It’s amazing what you can accomplish by changing just one detail. We adapted our bestselling Five Panel Glass Sliding Door, narrowing the glass panels and widening the wood planks in between them. The result is an even more modern-looking, unique sliding barn door. The advantage of the Narrows door is that it brings an air of mystery to your space, revealing just a hint of what’s on the other side.

This sliding barn door is perfect for:

  • children’s playrooms
  • art studios
  • kitchen pantries
  • home offices
  • laundry rooms
  • closets and pocket door applications

In commercial applications, a barn door with glass panels is great for bakeries and kitchens, schools, medical offices, and dance studios.

Fun Fact: The name "Narrows" not only describes the glass panels' size but is also a tribute to the Narrows Bridges that connects the city of Tacoma in the town of Gig Harbor, where RealCraft lives!

Wood Species

RealCraft offers over 20 wood species, including inexpensive and premium options. Popular choices for this door include:

Glass Options

Another key element for your Narrows Five Panel Sliding Barn Door's overall look is the glass option, so make sure to consider privacy when building your door. Choose from the standard clear glass or the etched option for more privacy.

The materials are only one half of the story. The people who make them are just as important. Skilled artisans cut, assemble, and finish our doors by hand. So our doors have an artisanal quality that’s hard to come by in a mass-produced world. We build for people who want a product that’s real

*Note: All hardware is sold separately. Please see our barn door hardware kits for sliding hardware options.

We highly recommend adding a clear finish to your door to protect it and make sure that it is eligible for coverage under our warranty. A clear finish not only protects your door, it also enhances its beauty while preserving its texture. Clear finish brings out the color and detail of the wood grain.

We offer the following finish options:

  • White Primer: Added to Paint Grade Hardwood. For this option, we use only high-quality hardwoods like European Beech or Red Grandis. These species provide a smooth surface for paint.
  • Clear Satin Eurofinish by Osmo: A premium hand-rubbed hardwax oil that conditions, seals, and finishes the wood.
  • Oil Stain EuroFinish by Osmo: A premium hand-rubbed hardwax oil that stains, seals, and finishes the wood.

Check out our Wood Species Visualizer below to compare the raw wood with finished wood and explore our wood species options. Slide the toggle to the left for unfinished wood, and slide the toggle to the right for wood finished with Clear Satin EuroFinish.

Skilled artisans make all our doors by hand onsite in Gig Harbor, a small seaport town on the Puget Sound in Washington State.

RealCraft offers twenty different wood species from budget-friendly to exotic and rare. One of the reasons we love real wood so much is that it carries the character of its natural habitat. Wood species respond differently to humidity and temperature conditions. If you aren't sure which wood species to pick, call us at 1-253-853-3815.

For frequently asked questions about choosing a door and hardware see our FAQ page. If you're not sure what species is right for your space, or want to see the wood in person, you can order samples here.

Please note that doors will ship separately from sliding hardware when purchased together. Doors are pictured with hardware for context. Sliding hardware is sold separately, and not included with the purchase of a door. Doors are not pre-drilled for hardware. If you order a door and a hardware kit, we are unable to ship hardware installed on doors due to the risk of damage in transit.

We designed these doors with interior applications in mind. We don't recommend exterior use, and can't guarantee against warping or damage if you install your door outside. To have this door specially crafted for exterior use, call us at 1-253-853-3815 and we’ll be happy to help!

If you wish to customize the door even further, we can make your dream door a reality! Please understand that customization will add to the lead time. If you need more than 10 doors, or if your project requires special consideration, please call 1-253-853-3815

When calculating the size of your barn door, we recommend that the door overlaps the doorway slightly to minimize gaps and provide some sound-muffling for privacy. An inch of overlap on each side is a good rule of thumb for barn doors. For example, a 36” x 80” doorway would need a 38” x 81” sliding barn door. If you would like more sound sealing, then a 2-inch overlap on either side is best. To make sure it looks its best, your barn door should also completely cover any molding on the door opening when closed. So if you have molding, you’ll need to factor that into your measurements as well.
