Rancher Mid-Bar Sliding DIY Barn Doors

The Mid-Bar Sliding DIY Barn Doors is a classic barn door with a hint of rustic charm. The simple, proportional design makes it a versatile choice that will work with a variety of decor styles. Available in twenty wood species and either pre-assembled or DIY assembly.

Classically Styled Sliding DIY Barn Doors

The Mid-Bar sliding barn door kit design is a minimalist take on the rustic look. With four vertical planks, two rails at the top and bottom, and a mid-rail, it's symmetrical, proportional, and elegant. While it has its origins in the practical, no-nonsense world of old-fashioned sliding barn doors, we've streamlined the design so that it will coordinate with a variety of decor styles. Whether you're a minimalist, into contemporary design, or a farmhouse enthusiast, this door will work for you!

Sliding barn doors are perfect for saving space, which is why we love them for pantries, closets, or other door openings that tend to feel slightly cramped. A sliding barn door does not utilize as much floor space as a traditional swinging door, making them a godsend for tight hallways and small spaces. But they also function as movable works of art, and add architectural interest to spaces that need structure. So whether you're looking for a door for a small space, or for a large space that needs visual interest--barn doors are the design secret you need.

All our doors are made of solid wood, because solid wood promises the best longevity and the most luxurious, premium look. We offer our doors in 20 different wood species. Some customer favorites for this design include:

  • Knotty Alder
  • Hickory
  • Premium Walnut
  • Sapele Mahogany

We cut and sand each plank by hand and can assemble it for you, or send it in pre-cut pieces for a fun & easy DIY barn door project! Planks are pre-cut and slotted, and the door can easily be assembled, finished, and installed in a weekend. RealCraft was one of the first companies to create high-quality DIY barn door kits. As an early innovator, our quality standards are sky-high.

Features:

  • Real, solid wood planks
  • Ready-to-assemble DIY option OR pre-assembled
  • 1-3/4" thickness
  • Your choice of flat head screw finish
  • Optional pre-finishing
  • Compatible with all sliding barn door hardware

RealCraft offers twenty different wood species from budget-friendly to exotic and rare. One of the reasons we love real wood so much is that it carries the character of its natural habitat. Wood species respond differently to humidity and temperature conditions. If you aren't sure which wood species to pick, call us at 1-253-853-3815.

We recommend adding a clear finish to your door to protect it and ensure that it is  eligible for coverage under our warranty. A clear finish not only protects your door, it also enhances the door’s beauty while preserving its natural, unique texture. Clear finish brings out the color and detail of the wood grain.

We offer the following finish options:

  • White Primer: Added to Paint Grade Hardwood. For this option, we use only high-quality hardwoods like European Beech or Red Grandis. These species provide a smooth surface for paint.
  • Clear Satin EuroFinish by Osmo: A premium hand-rubbed hardwax oil that conditions, seals, and finishes the wood.
  • Oil Stain EuroFinish by Osmo: A premium hand-rubbed hardwax oil that stains, seals, and finishes the wood.

Check out our Wood Species Visualizer below to compare the raw wood with finished wood and explore our wood species options. Slide the toggle to the left for unfinished wood, and slide the toggle to the right for wood finished with Clear Satin EuroFinish.

Skilled artisans make all our doors by hand onsite in Gig Harbor, a small seaport town on the Puget Sound in Washington State.

For frequently asked questions about choosing a door and hardware,  see our FAQ page. If you're not sure what species is right for your space, or want to see the wood in person, you can  order samples here

DIY assembly doors are not eligible for pre-applied finish; we recommend applying a finish to the planks after they have acclimated to your surroundings for five days.

Please note that doors will ship separately from sliding hardware when purchased together. Doors are pictured with hardware for context. Sliding hardware is sold separately, and not included with the purchase of a door. Doors are not pre-drilled for hardware. If you order a door and a hardware kit, we are unable to ship hardware installed on doors due to the risk of damage in transit. Some handles and pulls may not be compatible with this door because it has a mid-rail.

We designed these doors with interior applications in mind. We don't recommend exterior use, and  can't guarantee against warping or damage  if you install your door outside. To have this door specially crafted for exterior use, call us at 1-253-853-3815 and we’ll be happy to help!

If you wish to customize the door even further, we can make your dream door a reality! Please understand that customization will add to the lead time. If you need more than 10 doors, or if your project requires special consideration, please call 1-253-853-3815

Financing

We’re proud to offer Shop Pay Installments! Buy today and pay in 4 or more payments starting at 0% APR. If you finance your purchase with Affirm (Shop Pay Installments), your first payment is due approximately two weeks after your purchase is finalized. Please note that due to extended delivery times, your loan payment(s) may be due before you receive your purchase.

When determining the size of your barn door, we recommend that the door overlaps the doorway to minimize gaps and provide some sound-muffling for privacy. An inch of overlap on each side is a good rule of thumb for barn doors. For example, a 36” x 80” doorway would need a 38” x 81” sliding barn door. If you would like more sound sealing, then a 2-inch overlap on either side is best. To make sure it looks as intentional as possible, your barn door should also completely cover any molding on the door opening when closed. So if you have molding, you’ll need to factor that into your measurements as well.
