Here's What To Expect When You Install A Set of Carriage Doors

Carriage doors are beautiful, distinctive, and traditional. They can also be tricky to install. We recommend that unless you're in the industry yourself, you should hire a contractor to install your carriage doors. It's not the time to risk making amateur mistakes!

But that doesn't mean you can't learn about the process. Recently we had the opportunity to install a set of carriage doors for a client locally in Seattle, and we filmed the install process for you. Because understanding how it works will prepare you for the big day and help you know what to expect.

Plus, the install process is similar for other types of swinging doors as well, especially exterior doors, which we just launched. So whether you're installing a swinging door, a set of double doors, or carriage doors, this guide has helpful information about:

  • Adjusting the Door Jamb
  • Hinge Types and Placement
  • Getting the Doors Into Position
  • Customizing the Door Sweep
  • Adjusting the Doors once they're hung
  • The Function of an Astragal

and more!
