Brightly Colored Intensive Wood Finish
The Wood Wax Finish Intensive features bright, vivid shades that make a statement. You can apply one coat of these intensive tones for a softer payoff that lets the wood grain shine through, or you can apply two coats for a more opaque finish. This finish resists stains, repels water and other household spills, and smooths the wood's surface. Compared to conventional finishes, Osmo's plant-based ingredients create a more even color payoff. Plus, it won't peel, crack, flake, or blister like urethane-based finishes do.
You can use this finish for a variety of interior applications including: wall paneling, molding, trim and beams, and doors. It's also suitable for edge-glued panels, chipboard and MDF. Ideal as a color base coat for wood floors and for refinishing darkened wood surfaces. Highly recommended for furniture and children’s toys. When dry the finish is non-toxic and resistant to sweat and saliva.
Note: only one coat of Osmo Wood Wax Intensive Finish is recommended for flooring. If you apply it as a base coat for flooring, it must be sealed with Osmo Polyx Oil to protect the pigments.
Preparation
- Wood surfaces must be clean, dry and free from surface dirt and debris.
- Surface coatings such as paint, varnish and other surface sealers must be fully removed by sanding or with a suitable paint and varnish remover
- Sand carefully before application starting with a coarse paper – final sanding for flooring should be with a P80 to P120 grit sandpaper and P120 to P150 for furniture
- Thoroughly remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner before application
Application
Osmo Wood Wax Finish is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well before use.
Transparent color (one pigmented coat): With Osmo Flat Brush, Oil Finish Applicator Fleece (Hand Pad Holder), Microfiber Cloth or Microfiber Roller, apply very thinly to the clean and dry wood surface along the wood grain and spread well.
For a more subtle, stained effect: Apply thinly with a lint-free cloth and within 20 minutes, wipe away cleanly and evenly. Ventilate well while drying.
Intensive color (two pigmented coats): With Osmo Flat Brush or Microfiber Roller, apply very thinly to the clean and dry wood surface along the wood grain and spread well. Ventilate well while drying. Apply the second coat - also thinly.
Note: Larger areas can also be coated by using a scraper. Afterwards buff in with a white pad.
Important: For mechanically loaded areas, such as flooring, we recommend max. one coat and a thin top coat with a clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil. In general, an intensive color (two pigmented coats) is not recommended for flooring due to the risk of applying too much product.
Drying time: 24 hours per coat.
WARNING: Cloths saturated with product are a spontaneous combustion hazard and should be left out unfolded until dried, prior to disposal or preferably stored in a proper fireproof container.
Tip: The microfiber roller should only be saturated lightly. A lightly saturated roller will allow the user to cover approximately 43-53 ft2 (4-5m2) of flooring. Please be aware that Osmo Wood Wax Finish has a high yield (see product label). Product excesses and roller tracks must be roller or smoothed out immediately.
Tinting: Osmo Wood Wax Finish can also be used to lightly tint Polyx®-Oil 3054 up to a ratio of 10:1. Do not exceed a ratio of 10 parts Polyx®-Oil 3054 to 1 part Wood Wax Finish.
Aftercare
Regular Cleaning
Surfaces treated with Osmo Wood Wax Finish Transparent should be dry wiped from time to time with a soft lint free cloth. To remove day to day, dust, dirt, scuffs and light marks use Osmo Spray Cleaner.
Deep Cleaning
For more stubborn marks, light scratches or if the surface is starting to look tired or worn, an application of Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner may be required.
