It is no secret that we Realians love doors, but we are also huge film buffs! One of our favorite things when watching a movie is spotting a gorgeousdoor. In fact, some of the most iconic doors ever created are ones from films.

We love our fellow film fanatics, so why not show you a couple of our favorite movie doors that we can custom make for you? 

“The road goes ever on and on, down from the DOOR where it began”

Whether you’re a bigger fan of the books or the movies, there is no doubt that J.R.R. Tolkien brought us some of the most memorable doors ever designed. For example, The Door of Durin, which guards the Mines of Moria. Although we haven’t quite figured out how to make doors visible only in the moonlight (we are working on it), we can create many other gorgeous Lord of the Rings inspired doors for you.

If you are vertically challenged, never skip second breakfast, and have a bad habit of stealing mushroom from Farmer Maggot, then boy do we have the door for you! One of the most quintessential Lord of the Rings doors, the Hobbit Hole Door. Real can easily bring your dreams of living in the shire one step closer to reality, by building you your own custom Hobbit Door! But remember, “It's a dangerous business going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

Not feeling like a tricksy hobbit? Not to worry, we even have specialty doors that we have designed ourselves that are inspired by The Lord of the Rings. (told you we were fans!)

Our Chartres Gothic Door, named after the Chartres Cathedral in France, is built entirely from American Black Cherry. This door was inspired by one of our favorite towns in Middle Earth, Rivendale. With its hand-carved vinework gracing the top of the arch, it is a door Elrond himself would be proud to walk through.

The Lone Wolf Orc Door was inspired by the Dark Lord Sauron's army. This door is built to mark the territory of great men: thinkers, dreamers, and doers. They feature a patchwork of distressed metals inspired by hardy Uruk-hai shields. The finishing touch is a stone heaved into the middle of the door. Here, we use a miniature version of the Mordor War Catapult, stuff a stone into it, and send it hurling through the air. The catapult is so precise; the stone embeds directly into the center of the door every time. ;)

“Yes, unless they figure out how to open DOORS.”

Feeling a little more prehistoric? Although we haven’t quite figured out how to clone dinosaurs for you, we can give you some awesome Jurassic Park doors! They don’t even have to be as enormous as they are in the movie (although that would be awesome, and we are totally capable of doing that - check it out). With our quality solid wood, they are sure to protect you from the largest T. rexes and all the feisty velociraptors.

We couldn’t make a blog about movie doors without mentioning one of the biggest and baddest door based movies of all time, Monsters Inc.! We love this movie because it shows that one door can make all the difference!

Now, will this door open up a portal to the monster world? While we are legally obligated to say no, we did make a door for a customer named Randall a while back and haven’t seen him since.
